Morphoscope uses Fourier-Descriptors for shape description and retrieval.
A shape is fully represented by less than 10 percent of its contours length. In this sample the brain contour originally consists of 794 pixels yet 50 values are sufficient for its sound numerical description.
These values are compared to Fourier-Descriptors of arbitrary other region shapes.
