Installation
  1. unpack the ms_analyse.zip archive
  2. change in the ms_analyse directory
  3. double click on the ms_analyse-mt.exe.
First Steps
Main Window: ms_analyse-mt
  1. Select Menue: Image->create HARAG
Create HARAG
  1. Select Menue Image->create HARAG
  2. Select an image from the file system. Try a size of aprox. 512x512 pixels or smaller first
  3. Set number of scales to 10
  4. Press Start
Analyse Image < Image filename >
  1. Press Browse Bright/Dark button to navigate decomposed image scales
  2. Press Draw Bright/Dark for a sketch tool for manual region processing. A manual is avaliable via Main Window->Info->Sketches
  3. Export region descriptions in tables by buttons right of the main window. This requires previous region selections via step 1.
  4. Try region selection by rule manipulation in the rule edit section. You may use the nucleii.png sample image along with the already loaded rules. A manual is avaliable via Main Window->Info->Rules
Browse Bright/Dark Scales
  1. Navigation in the scales:
    • Zoom Image by Mousewheel
    • Resize Image by +/- Buttons
    • Select region by Left-Click, Parameters are displayed in the right text area
    • Transfer region from scales into main window by CTRL+Right-Click
    • Transfer region from scales into main window by CTRL+Right-Click
    • Browse single region by Middle-Click followed by CTRL+Mouse-Wheel-Up/-Down. Note: Not every initial region merges into a larger one. Thus nothing may change. Try Middle-Click at another position
  2. Press FDS for Fourier Analysis of the regions contour
FDS (Fourier Descriptors)
  1. Variate number of coefficients by the slider. Red is the RST specific representation of the contour while green is the RST invariant representation by the coefficients. You may use the provided images BrainSlice.png or mri_head_sag.png and compute 40 scales. The white matter or the whole brain yields large regions with contours of high dynamics.
  2. Press Coeffs to get the coefficients in the right text area
  3. Press No image repeatedly to change background
